New York City
Where We Work: The Five Boroughs
We work across the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. The city is not one job, so here is what changes from one borough to the next, and the site that serves yours.
Same business, five kinds of building
The borough changes the job. Not the standard.
A demolition estimate is really an estimate about access, material and hours. All three are set by the kind of building you are in, and New York's building stock changes sharply from one borough to the next.
A loft floor with a shared freight elevator, a brownstone with a stoop and a stair, and a detached house with a driveway are three different jobs even when the scope on paper is identical. Pick the borough you are working in for what changes there.
Whichever you choose, the number on this page reaches the same people.
Pick your borough
01 The Bronx
Demolition in the Bronx
Prewar six-storey apartment buildings with one passenger elevator and no freight, attached two-family houses, and a large amount of walk-up stock. Material usually leaves through the lobby or the yard, in agreed windows, and the elevator is shared with everyone who lives there.
02 Brooklyn
Demolition in Brooklyn
Brownstones and row houses, plaster on masonry, and stoops as the only route out. Large parts of the borough sit inside historic districts, so the Landmarks step sits ahead of the permit, and a container on a residential street has its own rules.

03 Manhattan
Demolition in Manhattan
Shared freight elevators released in blocks, walk-ups with no elevator at all, co-op alteration agreements that set tighter hours than the city does, and historic districts downtown. Our Manhattan site is written from the Garment District outward.
04 Queens
Demolition in Queens
Detached and attached one- and two-family houses with driveways, garden-apartment complexes, co-op towers, and commercial strips with rear loading. The route out is often the easiest in the city and the container permit is often the first thing to settle.
05 Staten Island
Demolition on Staten Island
Detached houses on their own lots, with driveway and yard access and room for a container on the property. A smaller share of pre-1987 apartment stock than the other boroughs, which changes how often the asbestos assessment sits ahead of the permit.

Across the East River
If you are not sure which site is yours, or your job crosses a borough line, call and describe the building. The same people answer whichever borough you are in, and we will tell you what the job involves.
